2017 Ata Mara Pinot Gris Tasting Notes
2017 Pinot Gris

Colour: Mid-Straw, clear and bright
Nose: Lifted and fragrant the wine shows beautifully ripe pear and baked apple, chamomile, citrus and ginger notes and a pleasant spiced floral hint.
Palate: Deliciously flavourful entry with very good weight and a nice, slippery texture. The grainy pear element gives good contrast to the smooth weight and the just-dry finish is perfectly balanced and totally appealing.
Oak: None
MLF: No secondary fermentation
Winemaker’s Comment: A beautiful varietal and vineyard expression from Ata Mara, a special site just off Wanaka Road in the Central Otago sub-region of Pisa.
This single vineyard beauty showcases everything we love about Central Otago Pinot Gris. The oldest vines were carefully handpicked and the best two ferments were later combined to deliver this beautiful wine.
Gentle handling from grape to bottle has minimised any unwelcome phenolic extraction and the ferment was stopped at the perfect moment to beautifully balance acid and sugar.
The harsh climate, low fertility soils and careful viticulture has enabled production of a wine with finesse and structure, showing excellent varietal character and fruit purity.
