2015 Ata Mara Grüner Veltliner

A single vineyard wine from the 1ha block at the Ata Mara vineyard in Pisa
The third crop from these young vines and each year the fruit looks better. A warm year allowed this thick skinned, big-bunched variety to fully ripen and the resulting wine reflects all this flavour and warmth.

Still just finding our way with the variety in terms of style, this year’s wine is a similar sweetness level as the 2014 but it was harvested at a much higher brix showing more fruit weight and varietal expression. Handpicked and whole bunch pressed, the light pressings were fined and returned to the free run to ferment as one parcel.

Drink on release and over the next 3-4 years.

A very pale straw colour, green rimmed, clear and bright, this wine has a nose of white flowers, white pepper, wet stone, guava, nectarine, white peach, smoke and honey.

On the palate, it is beautifully textural and slippery with good fruit weight balanced by savoury minerality and finishes dry and long.
